Another record in GST Collections – Highest ever at Rs 1.68 crores in April 2022

Setting new trend in GST Revenue collections

01st May 2022, Sunday brought a very good news to highlight India rising story. April 2022 month GST Collection figures came in Rs 25,000 crore higher than the next highest collection of Rs. 1,42,095 crore, just last month.

As per the Ministry of Finance:

1) The revenues for the month of April 2022 are 20% higher than it was in the same month last year.

2) Revenues from import of goods was 30% higher and

3) Revenues from domestic transaction (including import of services) are 17% higher than it was from these sources during the same month last year.

Total number of e-way bills generated in the month of March 2022 was 7.7 crore, which is 13% higher than 6.8 crore e-way bills generated in the month of February 2022, which reflects recovery of business activity at faster pace.

CGST – 66,582 Crores

SGST – 68,755 Crores

IGST – 21,554 Crores

States GST Collections

Highest Increase – Arunachal Pradesh recorded 90% growth in GST collections as compared to last year in April. Highest Decrease – Statistically, Daman and Diu remained on top i.e. 78% decrease with just a few GST collections this year while Manipur is the next with decrease of 33% collections as compared to the last year.

Maharashtra clocked 25% rise whereas Delhi & UP collections rose 16% each.

Ministry press release stated – This shows clear improvement in the compliance behaviour, which has been a result of various measures taken by the tax administration to nudge taxpayers to file returns timely, to making compliance easier and smoother and strict enforcement action taken against errant taxpayers identified based on data analytics and artificial intelligence.
