PM Modi stressed on digital payments usage saying this will help India towards building big digital economy
Today on 24th April, PM Modi addressed nation during his monthly radio program – ‘Mann ki Baat’. On Digital payments, he emphasized over small online transactions and informed that nation is doing daily digital transactions of worth about Rs. 20 thousand crores. He also said that people are using UPI now even in small villages & town which is benefitting both shopkeepers & customers. During his address, he said because of the UPI QR code, people did not have to withdraw cash. Even at most of the street food and roadside vendors, facility of online transaction is very well accepted which is great step towards big digital economy. He stressed on the point that UPI payments are becoming popular now even in small cities and even in remote areas. BHIM UPI has rapidly become a part of our economy and habits. He touched upon the problems that people used to face in India for carrying cash, going to the bank, finding an ATM. As per him, the hassle is now over with increased usage and acceptance of UPI payments
PM Modi said many new start-ups related to Fin-tech are also coming up in the country due to this digital economy boost. He urged to the countrymen to share any experiences related to this power of digital payment and start-up ecosystem. For PM, common man’s experiences can become an inspiration to many other countrymen.
